You do not need a technical brief to get in touch. A few practical details will make it easier to understand your project and discuss what comes next.
Your enquiry checklist
Five details worth gathering.
01
Where is the project?
Give the property postcode and enough information to identify the location. Mention whether the work is at a home, a building site or occupied business premises. The registered company address does not define the service area, so include the location when asking about availability.
02
What work is being done?
Explain the task and the parts of the building that need to be reached. If another trade is doing the work, ask them to outline the access they need. Photographs, drawings or an existing project brief can make the starting discussion clearer.
03
What is around the building?
Describe narrow passages, shared entrances, driveways, neighbouring properties and anything overhead or at ground level that may need consideration. Tell us if people, vehicles or deliveries need to pass through the area while the work takes place.
04
When would you like to start?
Include your preferred start, the expected duration and any fixed programme dates. These are requested dates until availability and the arrangements have been agreed. If another contractor controls the programme, include their contact or the relevant schedule.
05
Who is coordinating the job?
Provide your name, contact details and the person who can answer site questions. For a trade or commercial enquiry, mention the contracting organisation and any supplier information needed before an appointment or quotation can progress.
When discussing a quotation
Know what you’re agreeing.
Check the proposed working areas, the intended period and any assumptions about access. Ask which activities and arrangements are included, which are separate and what information is still required before the work can be confirmed.
Discuss responsibility for any permissions, design requirements, handover information, inspection arrangements, changes and removal. These questions help establish the project scope; the answer must come from the parties agreeing the work.
This is a preparation checklist, not a site assessment or technical instruction. Do not alter scaffolding yourself. Raise any concern with the responsible site contact.
The next step
Let’s talk about your project.
Tell us where the work is, what needs to be reached and when you’re hoping to start. A clear outline is the best place to begin.
